Who we are
Modular construction done properly
We are engineers, architects and installers. Since 2019 we have delivered modular housing across Europe on one simple rule: nothing leaves the factory until it is right, and nothing is sold until the permitting is resolved.
Why we exist
Modular construction has a reputation problem in Portugal and across Europe that it does not deserve — and that the sector created itself. For years the pitch was «container house, no permit needed», «ready in two weeks» and «the price of a used car». The result was plots with embargoed modules, clients without occupancy certificates and banks refusing to lend.
We founded Modular Living Europe in 2019 on the opposite conviction: modular construction is only better than traditional building if it is done with the same engineering rigour and the same respect for the legal framework — and then it is clearly better. Faster, more predictable in cost, more controlled in quality and less destructive to the land.
How we work
- We say no. If the land does not allow it, if access will not take a crane, if the plan does not permit the use — we say so before the contract, not after the deposit.
- We publish numbers. Prices, lead times, insulation thicknesses and U-values are on this website. If a supplier does not publish them, ask yourself why.
- Calculations before aesthetics. Every structure is verified to Eurocode 3 using the seismic and wind zone of the actual location.
- One point of contact. Design, permits, manufacturing, transport and installation with the same team and the same site manager.

One hall, controlled measurements and no rain
We produce in a 3,200 m² hall with three parallel lines, welding jigs, a paint booth and a weathertightness testing bay. Unlike a building site, measurements here are verified with instruments, material is inventoried, the crews are the same every day and the weather is irrelevant.
That is the underlying reason a factory module has fewer defects than the equivalent site-built construction: it is not the technology, it is repetition in a controlled environment.
Sustainability without the marketing exaggeration
Modular construction reduces material waste, reduces earthworks and reduces the time a site is disrupted. Reusing shipping containers puts existing steel back to work. And the thermal performance of our modules, at class A or A+, cuts consumption over decades of use.
That said, we are not going to claim a steel house is carbon neutral. Steel carries high embodied carbon, special transport burns fuel and no new building is neutral. What we can state with numbers is this: less site waste, less earthmoving, an envelope with U-values between 0.19 and 0.29 W/m²K, solar PV provision as standard, and structures that can be dismantled and reused at the end of their first life.
